It's certainly been a while since the last time Konrad stepped into New Japan Fighting Championships, especially people have seen quite a big change in Konrad as he wasn't as big as he was, he was, in fact, a lot smaller, was there a reason for Konrad to be smaller than they last saw him months ago? Of course, they'll have to see as Konrad's not long got to Tokyo as he rushed straight to the press conference room as he had a match in the UK on Thursday night as he manages to sit down, have a sip of water before he speaks.
Konrad Raab: "It's certainly been a while since I last came to Japan. It's fantastic to come here and wrestle once again and I know what's been on your mind when you saw me, am I a lot smaller than you'd seen in the past? I can easily say yes because when I went camping in August, I thought to myself, maybe I should give a Junior Heavyweight division a shot as it's the only thing I've not done in this sport now, apart from winning a trios title, but I was a heavyweight, weighing in at two-thirty, now as of right now, unless I've lost five more pounds, I'm at two fifteen which makes me suitable for the Junior Heavyweight division here."
It wasn't easy for anybody to lose so much weight, but Konrad wanted to make a difference as he speaks again after taking a sip of water.
Konrad Raab: "I'll eventually be two zero five by the end of next week due to the weight restrictions they have in another company where I've placed myself in a tournament for the chance to be a Junior Heavyweight title contender, I want to prove to the world that a former heavyweight can lose pounds to evolve and mold themselves to be in the division, being successful at it."
Once again, Konrad pauses as he takes more sips of water, drinking quite a lot since he was on a cutting weight diet right now, especially doing some intense gym work after the press conference as he speaks about his opponent now.
Konrad Raab: "Speaking of which, Takashi Shinobu is a perfect example of being in the division I dream to be in, but I respect the hell what the kid's done since he came to NJPC, especially facing and even defeating some of the top names he's faced against, but right now, he's a threat no matter what as I've got no experience of being in the Junior Heavyweight division and this is a great start to my new path of that. I've interacted a bit with him and there's nothing bad to say about the guy as he's got a ton of potential to make himself a Junior Heavyweight champion someday."
Konrad was certain with every word he said about Takashi Shinobu with the match being Konrad's biggest test and he's smiling, knowing it's a training match for the upcoming CWC Junior Heavyweight tournament coming up.
Konrad Raab: "As much as we'll put on a show from the fans and as much as I'm willing to learn to mold into the Junior Heavyweight style of wrestling, I also want to be a Junior Heavyweight title contender. Takashi has more experience than me in this division, but I know this match is a must and regardless of who comes out the winner, I will at least learnt so much to prepare myself to be completely ready for the CWC Junior Heavyweight tournament and also prove to James Peterson about me being in the division from here on. Of course, it's also the return of me wrestling in Japan once again."
Konrad pauses once again as he tries to drink nearly a whole jug of water as apart of his diet he's trying to cut and speaks again.
Konrad Raab: "It's gonna be a great challenge as Takashi is gonna bring everything towards me and I expect he'll show me tricks and tips of molding me into a high flyer, but also throw in some technical moves too. At the same time, while I expect this, you can't expect me to slack off as I will put in my one hundred percent effort into our match, making the fans remember what we've put out for the fans by tearing the house down to see who'll walk out the winner of the match. I've heard me being a favourite, but there are odds against me as well as they've never seen me in the division and this match is a real test to see if I can hang with Takashi and if I belong in this division which is a major risk for me to take."
The jug of water was nearly empty now as he takes more sips before speaking once more.
Konrad Raab: "Anyway, it's going to be a very respectful match as it's an honour to face a man who seems to want to be successful here in NJFC as he's been in the company as long as I have, but I must win to get rid of the doubts people have about me on a lot of things I've mentioned, but I'm doing everything to win as hard as you may try Takashi, it's not gonna be enough against The Iceman with his technical advantage. Tonight, you'll prepare yourself to be Iceinated by The Iceman."
Konrad leaves the press conference room to head straight to the gym to do intense cardio training to lose weight, prepare for his match against Takashi Shinobu. He goes to his apartment 4 hours later after intense training to grab his wrestling gear before going to Tokyo Dome for his match tonight.
