Right at the start of the show, James wanted to do something he has never done before. Singing the American national anthem, He's had experience singing and playing the British national anthem before but not the American one. James was quite nervous as he was standing in the ring along with Christy Hemme who was the ring announcer for the Inner Circle show. James's piano was also in the ring as Christy begins to speak.
Christy Hemme: Ladies and Gentleman. We have a special guest here tonight that will sing the American national anthem. Please give around of an applause to James Toseland.
This was a big night for him to able to sing the national anthem for America as the video comes up for the victims that died 10 years ago after a plane crashed into the twin towers and he starts to sing the song.
James Toseland (Singing): Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
The crowd gave James a cheer as he sang that song so well and people all over the arena chanted USA all throughout the arena and James was pretty pleased with himself knowing all the lyrics to the song and he begins to speak.
James Toseland: I have another special treat for you later on in the show when my band and I have another special song that we are going to perform for you. Got to admit I was pretty nervous singing this anthem but it was for a special occasion that we all should remember even I will. See you all later.
James walked backstage as he was pretty glad that he got that out of the way and sits with his band discussing what he will do next as the matches begin with the first match.
